When To Visit

April

The most popular time to visit North Meadow is during April when the Snakes Head Fritillaries are in flower. The best time is slightly different each year depending on weather conditions. You can find out how the fritillaries are doing each year by visiting our Fritillary Watch page.

May/June

During May/June the hay crop grows and many wild flowers come into bloom.

You can see pictures of the typical flowering plants and grasses on the North Meadow Flora page. A walk around the meadow on a fine day is  very pleasant and also a good time to see the butterflies, day flying moths and damselflies. You can find out more about this time of year by visiting our Meadow Watch page.
